GhostMaker is an extremely simple application written in REALbasic that opens up multiple connections to a hotline server, leaving 'Ghost' users on the server. These are distinguishable from real users by their generic icon, and the name '???'. Although these unnamed users create no problems for the server (unless it ran out of memory, but in beta1 you can only make four or five ghosts anyway) they do get on the administrator's nerves and spam the logs a bit.
Hrm... Sounds like fun, but are there any disadvantages?
That all depends on wether the 'Use Real IP as Well' box is checked or not. Should you check this box, the attack creates a further five ghosts on the server but these five will be logged with your IP address.
What makes GhostMaker so different from the other flooders?
Unlike other user flooders, GhostMaker utilises the much-publicised Wingate bug to allow your ghosts to effectively spoofed IP's, making it very difficult for you to get caught
Are there any known bugs?
Dozens! heh, but the main one is that if you have been banned from the server, the program gets caught in a loop and doesn't know what to do. This will be fixed shortly
IMPORTANT
I did not create this program to be used on every server and its admin's dog; it was simply made to show that it could be done. I learnt a lot about RB and hotline that I didn't know beforehand, and so this project has been worthwhile for me, whether it is useful to you or not. One last word - don't be lame and use it unprovoked. In fact don't use it at all. Thanks
